HOMILY THEME: STORE UP TREASURE FOR YOURSELVES IN HEAVEN

2 Kings 11:1-4, 9-18, 20; Psalm 131(132):11-14, 17-18; Matthew 6:19-23
INTRODUCTION
Good Morning my dear brothers and sisters in Christ, today we celebrate Friday of the 11th Week in the Ordinary Time, Liturgical Calendar Year B.
FROM OUR FIRST READING
In our first reading today, we hear about Jehosheba saving Joash from Athaliah. Jehosheba hid Joash to protect him from harm. This act shows how God can use people to protect and care for His chosen ones.
God always watches over His people. In times of danger, He can provide safety through others. Just as Joash was saved, we can trust that God will protect us.
Jehosheba’s bravery reminds us that God’s plans often involve the courage and faithfulness of His followers. We are called to be brave and trust in God’s protection, even in difficult times.

FROM OUR GOSPEL READING
In today’s gospel reading, Jesus teaches us to store treasures in heaven. Earthly wealth is temporary and can be lost. Heavenly treasures, like love and kindness, last forever.
Jesus also talks about having a healthy perspective. When our spiritual vision is clear, our whole being is full of light. This light guides us to make good choices and live according to God’s will.
CONCLUSION
Dear brethren, focusing on heavenly treasures helps us to live a meaningful life. By keeping our eyes on God, we fill our lives with light and love, making a positive impact on the world around us.
LET US PRAY
Lord, give us courage to follow Your will. Teach us to store treasures in heaven and keep our spiritual vision clear. Fill our lives with Your light and guide us always. Amen.
