HOMILY OF FRIDAY 12TH WEEK OF ORDINARY TIME – YEAR B
HOMILY THEME: JESUS, OUR HEALER

2 Kings 25:1-12/Psalm 137:1-6/Matthew 8:1-4
After an extensive teaching on the mountain, Jesus came down and met a leper. The leper was not permitted to mingle with the multitude because of his state of health. As a result, Jesus had to minister to him outside the community of believers. Thus, our Lord had compassion and attention to people outside the ordinary circumstances of ministry. Jesus did not just effect healing, He acted with compassion.
It is, also, worthy of note that Jesus healed a disease that could not be handled by the normal medical systems of his age. Jesus handled what was beyond the human capacity of His days. He does same for us in our days. Indeed, in all circumstances of life, Jesus has an answer.

A little thing worthy of note is that if Jesus could handle what is beyond the natural capacity of man, then He can easily handle what we are capable of. But that doesn’t mean we should act lazily and expect God to handle our problems. On the other hand, Jesus invites us to a deeper healing; the reception of the cure to our natural limitations. Jesus wants us to handle the problems of life His way. He invites us to receive healing for our limitations in order to help bring freedom and healing to many. Thus, Jesus heals us and empowers us to effect healing in the lives of others.
PRAYER POINTS
~For healing grace on the sick and the infirm
~That our presence will grant healing to the sick and suffering
~For genuine compassion for humanity.
